Spring Styling Photo Shoot: The planning!

TFP1 moodboard 1

printTomorrow is an exciting day! I’m styling a photo shoot for which I’ve pulled together some very bright looks. We’re shooting downtown, amongst the crowds and thetheme for the editorial is ‘more is MORE’!

This is going to be a super quick post, but here is a sneak peek of the mood board attached (top) with a sample of the prints and colours we’re shooting with tomorrow (bottom).

Okay, now I have to head off to source some last minute things such as heels and printed trousers …so watch this space!

Vanity Case: On a bad day, there is always lipstick!

One of the easiest ways to create a fabulous outfit is to throw on some bright lippy. This has to be one of my favorite beauty trends because I honestly believe a bold hue on the lips lifts any look, takes it from day to night and is minimal effort and maximum effect! Over the years, I’ve managed to collect countless colours in shades of flirty fuscias, rich berrys, a freakishly vibrant tangerine and too many classic reds (a girl can never have just one!).

This trend is best paired with another favorite look of mine – rosy, dewy cheeks. The trick is to team these two looks from the same colour family. For example, if you’re opting for a vibrant pink lippy, then choose a blush in the pink family and just sweep it on the apples of your cheeks in a light, fluid motion for a natural look. If you’re afraid to try this bold lip but still curious, then use the lipstick as a stain instead by dabbing it on with a finger and finishing with a hint of gloss.

Still not convinced? Then I will leave you with the wise words of Elizabeth Taylor:

“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together!”

Happy Monday! x

A New York City gal!

New York is one of those places I could visit over and over again. There is just something about this city that is so captivating and utterly exhilarating to me. It may be something to do with it being captured so romantically on the screen (Sex and the City anyone?), on camera and written about glamorously in magazines.

Having said this, my ultimate style icon NYC girl crush? The all American socialite, OLIVIA PALERMO! To me, this Upper East Side it-girl can do no wrong. No, really. Every inch of her style is immaculate and she doesn’t put a (Jimmy Choo clad) foot wrong in my books. What I particularly adore about Olivia is her willingness to experiment with colours, print and textures in her sartorial choices that make them interesting.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on her dreamy model boyfriend. This pair is just perfection!

Above is my own high end version of an Olivia Palermo inspired outfit.

(Items include: Alexander McQueen top, Sophie Hulme shorts, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Dannijo earrings, Kate Spade bangle, Ray-Ban Wayfarers)

If you could wish for a view, what would it be?

This image really resonates with my mood especially today since I have been on the hunt for a perfect little desk and creative space for my room (this involved a rather difficult trip to IKEA today – that place is overwhelming!). Currently, I am typing this from my dangerously cozy bed and it’s getting more and more clear that if I continue working like this, I am another yawn away from having a completely unproductive day. I truly believe that we should treat our work space as our own little creative hub and should feel inspired to work from that space each day. I’m loving the romantic view of the Eiffel Tower with the delicate fresh flowers and books. If this was my desk, I would never want to leave!

More Amour: Prints and Neon

Since I quit my desk job last week to pursue my fashion aspirations, I have had some extra time at home. With all this freedom all of a sudden, my mind has been wondering off to far away destinations. I have been dreaming of European holidays lately. And I mean not just any vacay, but especially the ones where the European summer’s sweltering heat makes you want to drink tropical Piña Coladas all day, absorb in the culture, learn a seductive foreign language and pull out your beaded sandals and brightest gear!

So it seems no surprise that I have been very inspired lately by resort wear, neon, strong prints, clashing hues and colour-blocks. I adore mixing unusual colour combinations together such as pastels with neon and brights to form a stand-out look. Throw on some bright earrings and a slick of blue eyeliner and your outfit is complete.

My pale tickled pink dress is from Witchery last summer, printed jacket from ASOS and neon orange earrings from Lovisa.

Current Obsession: 1980’s Gold and Black attack!

Sometimes it’s just best to pair two neutral tones together to create a bold statement. The two colours don’t have to be boring but you can still have fun and experiment. Nothing is more classic than jet black paired with accents of classic yellow gold. This combo can be deadly when worn at night (as seen above) with a bright lippy and heels but it can also be relaxed for day (as seen below). To me, this combination is chic and there is definitely a 80s/90s vibe going on (Versace safety pin dress, anyone?) when mixed with vintage pieces.

Editorial: Blumarine Fall ’13 campaign

Editorial: Blumarine Fall '13 campaign

I don’t know where to begin with this absolutely stunning ad campaign by Blumarine – I heart everything about it! At a turn of a page, the campaign screams pretty, lush and gorgeous at you, with it’s vivid colors, flawless make up, opulent pieces and the calm serene expression of beauty Candice pulling it all together. Each shot and garment is so luxurious and feminine that I couldn’t decide on one picture alone. Out of all the other Fall ’13 campaigns, this truly stands out of the pages for me and is everything I love in a creative editorial: the rich jewel toned hues, romantic prints, a bold lip and an ethereal-like feel.

Can’t wait to see more from this label!
